Virender Sehwag, who is yet to fully recover after undergoing surgery on his shoulder, has made it to 17-man India squad for the Test series in England, but will miss the first two weeks of the tour to give him time to recuperate further. Sachin Tendulkar returns to the squad after skipping the West Indies tour to rest, while Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth and Yuvraj Singh return after injury breaks. M Vijay and Virat Kohli, who failed to impress in the West Indies, have been dropped.

A seventeen member squad has been selected for the forthcoming tour of England. 

The squad announced is on the expected lines though Munaf over Mithun might have been a trifle harsh on the youngster who did reasonably well in the 1st innings of the ongoing Test at Barbados. Saha is a surprise pick as the reserve keeper. Parthiv was the first choice for the ODI's against West Indies, but his keeping left a lot to be desired. 

With Sehwag all but missing out on the first Test, India will have a new opening pair in the form of Gambhir and Mukund for the Test at Lords. 

Subramanium Badrinath is another player to miss out. He struggled in the limited opportunities in the ODIs against WI and the fact that Yuvraj can bowl as well might have tilted the scale in his favour. 

Virender Sehwag will join the team a fortnight later and will probably miss the the first Test at Lords. 

As expected, Murali Vijay lost out on a place thanks to his poor performance in the ongoing tour of West Indies. Mukund struggled initially as well, but might have scraped ahead of Vijay on the basis of his gritty knock of 48 in the second knock. 

Amit Mishra must consider himself lucky to be in the squad ahead of Pragyan Ojha after a none too impressive showing in the 1st Test against West Indies at Sabina Park.
